A mother and son traverse the violent American west

In 1857, Sara is crossing the frontier into the American West with her son Devin. The pair travel a vast lawless landscape controlled variably by Mormons, Native peoples, and the fledgling American government. On their journey, Sara and her son struggle against the odds as they search in vain for the lost members of their family.
